An experienced Yard Supervisor is needed at our Mackay depot to actively involve staff in maintaining a productive, clean, and safe work environment at all times. Handle the receivables and loading teams/areas to guarantee that all freight is loaded safely, effectively, and in accordance with customer specifications and business best practices, all the while maximising payload.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise operational activities to assure prompt processing and loading of freight, to secure on time delivery in full.
  • Lead and guide the team of 20 employees and manage team training, performance management and rosters.  
  • Provide daily / weekly reports to Operations management team.
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring a safe working environment and reporting and investigating, safety incidents or concerns to the Manager.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant OH&S requirements and conforming to quality systems and procedures.
  • Create a positive environment that inspires employees to work safely, efficiently and effectively to meet departmental targets
 

Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to load and unload freight in yard environment.
  • Accredited Worksafe High Risk License to operate a Forklift.
  • General and/or refrigerated freight experience.
  • Good organisation and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Load Restraint knowledge and understanding.
  • Dangerous goods understanding and experience for freight requiring transportation.
  • Strong communication skills with the willingness to develop and change with company direction while influencing peers positively.
  • Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution and customer service skills.
  • Ability to comply with company procedures and policies
  • Practical understanding of Continuous Improvement and Process Management
