The Opportunity:

An opportunity has become available for a Senior HSEQ Advisor to join the team, based in Rockhampton. Your role in our HSEQ team will be promoting our strong safety culture by coaching and mentoring workers in the effective use of a range of HSE tools and processes, to drive HSEQ compliance and felt leadership to the highest standard and to identify and/or execute continuous improvement projects within the HSEQ function.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and communication of the HSEQ Strategic Plan and Tactical Plan and implementation of actions to achieve strategic directives
  • Support management and worker awareness of HSEQ responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Contribute to and support HSEQ consultation and participation processes
  • Participate in the development and review of risk assessments and procedures/ safe work procedures in conjunction with Operations
  • Review compliance with workplace policies and procedures including conducting workplace internal audits and support external audits as required
  • Train Operations teams in HSE programs and the use of HSE tools e.g. risk assessments, Permit to Work
  • Lead critical incident investigations and participate in other investigations, as required; and generate HSE Alerts and Learnings
  • Assist with development of and contribution to implementation of activities to prevent workplace fatality, injury, disease and ill health
  • Undertake trend and statistical analysis and report key performance indicators
  • Attend HSEQ Meetings, Toolbox Meetings and customer meetings, as required

 

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in a generalist HSEQ role (minimum 5 years) preferably in a transport/logistics environment
  • Significant experience in incident investigations
  • Excellent working knowledge of WHS and associated legislation i.e. Chain of Responsibility, road safety and environmental legislation
  • Ability to deal effectively with multiple conflicting priorities and complex problems
  • Excellent verbal communication and report writing skills
